Kayfun Lite [plus] Five Pawns® Edition Tank-Silver
Pioneer4You IPV D2
The smallest advanced personal vaporizer supporting temperature control on the market. I didn't think it was possible to beat the Vapor Shark, but Pioneer4You have done it. The Pioneer4You is shorter by 10.5 mm, narrower by 4.3 mm and thinner by 1.9 mm. The Pioneer4You IPV D2 comes in at 76.2 mm x 38.1 mm x 22.2 mm (3" x 1.5" x 7/8"). And light too. It's made of billet aluminum and is quite solid.
The unit at the right is the one I received from Canvape for testing and review. Included in the shrink wrapped box is a color matched silicone skin.
I understand the silicone skin is now part of the standard package.
The IPV D2 uses the Yihi SX130H chipset. Functionality is similar to its bigger brothers (IPS D3 LI and IPV 4). My initial observation is the IPV D2 does not have the memory functions of its bigger siblings.
One important note to make. When I first received this, I could not get it working with any temperature control tank. I tried a second unit and had the same problems. The issue is that when new, the IPV D2 has to have the coil resistance "set" ... all you need to do is press the + and - simultaneously until the display shows the coil resistance. No problem after that. Just remember to set the resistance with each tank change (not coil change, tank change).
The OLED screen is recessed in this unit and is quite bright even in direct sunlight.
The buttons are generously large and color matched to the unit. If you look at the bottom of the device, notice the five venting holes and the larger single hole at the left. That is for a round "D" style connector. Don't worry, the cable is included in the box. The cable is a hybrid USB charging cable with a round "D" style connector. I'm not sure I like this, it forces you to use only this cable. That's not terribly convenient if you are wanting to charge this in your car or want a second one for the office or work. It's my only gripe about this device, I wish Pioneer4You would have used a standard micro style USB connector. The smaller hole above the charging port is a tiny LED that glows red when charging and is off when fully charged.
At the left is the IPV D2 with the battery cover removed. It's the same style rounded edge slip on cover used on the IPV 4, this one is aluminum. It fastens to the main unit with two slots near the top and two larger pads at the bottom (one on either side).
The battery has the positive pin facing the bottom and inserted by positioning the negative side of the battery first, pushing it against the spring loaded mechanism and pushing down. Fit and finish of the battery compartment and battery cover is excellent.
I used a Samsung 25R 18650 battery in this device and it lasted about the equivalent of 7 ml of juice. You'll have to decide how much that is for you in terms of hours or days.
The 510 connector threads are very smooth. This is a floating pin, even though there is a flat screwdriver slow on the top, no need to adjust.
There are no air flow slots around the 510 connector. Tanks that have air flow through the 510 connector will not work well on this device.
This all being said, the Pioneer4You IPV D2 is one capable device. It has the IPV family menu structure. Although it doesn't have memory functions, it works well and is easy to adjust to your preferences.
I enjoyed using the IPV D2 quite a bit. I like the size – the rounded battery compartment feels great in the hand whether you press the fire button with your thumb (rounded part facing the crook of your fingers) or with your fingers (rounded part facing your palm), it works well.
It's a bonus to have Pioneer4You include a silicone skin with this. Other IPV family products had similar paint to the IPV D2 and the paint wore away from being in a pocket (or purse) and other objects hitting it or just plain wear. The silicone skin protects and feels nice in the hand.
The IPV D2, like all other IPVs, is an excellent device that I found accurate and effective. I like the vape it produces, efficiently of power to the coil through the Yihi SX130H circuitry has to be quite good.
