Plug-In MOSFREE creates these attractants to lure and trap mosquitoes:
I) Light- The ultraviolet (UV) rays in the device attracts the mosquitoes.
II) Heat- The heat generated by the UV light simulates the human body temperature.
III) Carbon dioxide- Carbon dioxide is produced when the UV ray is radiated onto the Titanium Dioxide coating inside the unit. This is known as the photocatalyst process. This is simulates the exhalation of carbon dioxide by humans, which attract mosquitoes to seek out its victims.
IV) Dark colour- The black colour of the MOSFREE device acts as a natural attractant.
When mosquitoes are near the device, they are drawn through the upper capture windows, where they are sucked down by the suction fan into a netting container. MOSFREE also cleans the air through the photocatalyst process which sterilizes airborne bacteria.
It is advisable to switch on the device for a few hours prior to you occupying a room. If possible do not switch on the light in the room. The UV light in a dark room is very strongly attracting the mosquito to it. This is because the device mimics the natural attractant (heat and CO2) that humans release and attracts the mosquitoes. The device is still working when there are humans present; however, it may not be at its optimum efficiency as human is a much stronger attractant compared to the device.
It is completely safe for humans, animals and friendly to the environment. The TiO2 coating within the unit is proven to be completely safe for humans and animals. It is CE approved and exported to many countries of the world.
The device shouldn't be place next the human as it may be less effective as humans are better attractant than the device. You should leave the device ON for a few hours before you watch your television or place it. The device can be placed, fixed, or hung, on any external object, wall, verandah post, or ceiling in the area to be protected. The device is more efficient about 1 meter off the ground. the device can be used outdoors as long as it is always protected from direct sun or rain / moisture. Rain water may damage the fan motor.
MosFree requires very little maintenance. Periodic cleaning of the suction fan, funnel and netting container. The captured mosquitoes will dehydrate and die within a few hours. Before switching off, cover the Mosfree device with plastic bag. Some mosquito may still be alive and they may try to escape when the fan is switched off
Care for your Plug-In MOSFREE
*ATTENTION: Always disconnect the power to Plug-In MOSFREE before disassembling it.
* Rotate the stainless steel netting container to remove and clean it out.
* If necessary, the U/V lamps can be replaced.
* Using the small brush given and water (if necessary), carefully clean the fan, the funnel and the stainless steel netting container. Ensure that water is not allowed to enter into the fan motor. Never soak the fan directly into water.
* In order to prolong the life of your trap, store in a dry place when not in operation.
